MUSIQA ReMix

Hobby Center for the Performing Arts

Dates to be announced

Performance Times: 9:30 AM and 11:15 AM
Recommended for Grades 5 – 7

Join us for an interactive lecture by an acclaimed music professor at Zilkha Hall. But the Professor is late and two impostors try to take his place. Can they run the “tune collider,” give the harmony a “make-over” and keep the “beat box” from exploding? Produced in collaboration with the Alley Theatre, Musiqa takes students inside of pieces of music to show how they’re put together. State-of-the-art digital animation helps visually reinforce the concepts. Includes surtitles, so the students can follow along and sing with the lyrics. The interactive program includes a great deal of student participation. No previous musical experience required.

Performance Registration includes:

  • the performance at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts
  • a pre-concert, in-school workshop led by Musiqa’s Resident Artist
  • a CD of concert music for every participating classroom
  • access to online teacher materials

Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Thanks to the support of the Hobby Center and our sponsors, Musiqa offers FREE ADMISSION TO TITLE I QUALIFIED SCHOOLS.  Title I schools are also eligible for free school bus transportation.

To register, please contact Judi Stallings at 713-315-2428 or email judi@thehobbycenter.org.

We recommend booking early as the shows fill up quickly.

Cancellation policy: If your school cancels within three weeks of your performance day and we are unable to fill your sets, your school will be charged $6 per student.
